The method

A fit is more than volume.

Cubic volume cannot tell you where a center rail lands, which orientation wastes less floor, or whether a rear bin is trapped.

Use the clear space inside the frame—not the mattress label. Add rails, legs and hardware as obstacles.

Test both orientations

The planner tries each permitted 90-degree rotation and compares bounded, deterministic arrangements.

Five-minute measuring guide

Measure the frame, not the mattress.

Product pages often list interior capacity or round to a nominal bed size. UnderBedFit needs the physical envelope that exists in your room.

  1. Width: clear span inside the left and right frame edges.
  2. Depth: clear distance from head to foot inside the frame.
  3. Height: floor to the lowest rail, slat, motor or bolt—measured in several places.
  4. Obstacles: width and position of rails, legs, drawers, cables and hardware.
  5. Bins: widest outside points with lid, wheels and handles installed.

Good measurements, useful answers

How do I measure the space under my bed?

Measure the clear width and depth inside the frame, then measure from the floor to the lowest rail, slat, motor or hardware. Use the smallest height you find and include wheels, lids and handles in each bin measurement.

Are mattress-size presets exact?

No. Presets are editable starting points only. Frames, rails, legs and adjustable-bed hardware change the usable footprint, so measure the actual space before buying bins.

Does a geometric fit mean I can pull every bin out?

Not always. UnderBedFit separately checks for a straight path to each side you mark as accessible. A bin may fit under the bed yet still be blocked behind another bin or support.

Why should I enter outside bin dimensions?

Outside dimensions determine whether a bin physically fits. Include protruding handles, wheels, lid lips and any room your hands need. Interior capacity is not used for placement.

Does UnderBedFit store my measurements?

Calculations happen in your browser. Plans are stored only when you choose Save on this device; share links place the selected values in the URL fragment.
